First Post, sort of...

So, here we are—my first post on this blog. Kind of.

See, I originally wanted to write something introductory, to set the tone and say a proper hello. But truth be told, I got carried away with a draft post and hit Publish by mistake. Now, I could have just unpublished that post and pretended this one was first, but I thought, why not stand by it? Making mistakes is alright. In fact, it’s how we learn and grow.

Hi, I’m Mike, also known as PeripheralMike. This blog is where I’ll be sharing my thoughts, opinions, and written tutorials on all things tech. It’s a space for me to organise my ideas, document what I’ve learned, and maybe even connect with others who find the same things interesting.

I mean yeah, sure, I could've used platforms like Medium or LinkedIn for this. But the truth is, I’ve tried those in the past, and they never felt quite right. To stick with something as a habit, it has to feel natural, like it belongs. And this blog? It feels like the right place for me.

After 15 years working in tech, I’ve built up a collection of ideas, opinions, and plenty of tutorials on topics like Software Testing, Networking, Security, Ethical Hacking, AI, Machine Learning, and loads more.

I’ve always been what you’d call a technologist. If something about technology fascinates me, like Reinforcement Learning, I dive in. Sometimes it’s because I need to for work, so I can teach others and help them in their roles. Other times, I do it just for fun. Quantum Computing, for example, is a proper mind-bender but absolutely worth the headache.

I also wanted this blog to feel personal. Over the years, I’ve come across plenty of technologists’ blogs and found value in them. I still frequent those blogs. Even if nobody else reads this, it’s a place for me to gather everything I’ve worked on in one spot.

So, that’s it. Welcome to my off ramp on the Information Superhighway. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll find something useful, interesting, or maybe even inspiring here. Let’s see where this goes!
